Frequently asked

Is Alejandro open to working with LGBTQIA+ folks?

Alejandro is open to working with folks regardless of their body type, able bodiedness, or orientation. The artist identifies as queer and is disabled themself, so they are more than happy to talk about ways to make your photo session both comfortable and accessible. As a client, it’s their job to make sure you feel safe!

What is expected, in general, from the client?

The client / model is expected to arrive ready to shoot at the agreed time and with the outfit / props they want to bring on hand and ready to go. If you want to have your hair done or makeup on, please make sure that is done beforehand and not during shooting time. Clients will be given a contract with basic expectations for the model and photographer to sign.

What is the retainer fee for? What happens if I need to cancel?

The retainer fee (20% of the total cost ) guarantees the date and timeslot of your shoot. It’s beneficial for the artist and client, as that means that timeslot is fully dedicated to you! This also covers any sort of last-minute cancellation as protection for the photographer. The retainer/booking fee is non-refundable. In cases of emergency such as hospitalization, family crisis, or natural disaster, the client is welcome to re-book at no extra cost.

Will you do portrait shoots with kids / teens?

Yes! Portraiture is wonderful for all ages. Anyone under the age of 18 will be required to have a parent or other form of legal guardian with them during the shoot at all times. This ensures the safety of the child and all other parties involved. If you cannot be present for your child’s shoot or have to leave at any point, then the shoot will be considered canceled. Parent / guardian will also be required to assign a release stating that they consent to their child being photographed.

Do you offer anything smaller than your basic packages?

Yes – For folks on a budget, Alejandro offers their ‘We Are Multitudes Minis’! These are thirty-minute shoots at a single location. These are more ‘lifestyle-oriented’ and includes coverage of the client doing something they love. Whether it be painting, skateboarding, or another fun hobby. This is a great way to get photos if you feel uncomfortable with traditional style shoots, need a lot of bang for your buck, or if the model doesn’t like traditional posing. Alejandro captures you as you are doing what you love most!

Do I have to come by myself?

Of course not! Feeling safe is an important part of having a successful shoot. You’re welcome to bring friends, though the only folks included in the shoot will be what was discussed and signed on contract. There’s nothing wrong with needing emotional support!

The weather sucks! What happens now?

If the shoot needs to be canceled due to bad weather, rescheduling is free of charge. In the case that the shoot requires travel outside the local area, the photographer does not assume responsibility for any flight / hotel-based fees. Depending on the client’s comfort level, Alejandro is happy to make due if things suddenly need to be shot indoors, etc. Flexibility is always part of the creative process!

What happens if my clothes, hair, jewelry, etc needs to be adjusted?

Getting the perfect shot can take time, but by no means does that mean the photographer or assistant will touch you to fix stray hairs or uneven jewelry without your explicit permission and consent. It’s totally normal to not be comfortable with that! In the case you’d rather someone you know helping with that, we always advise bringing a friend or family member to help either way.

For clients that have rules about modesty in their culture as well, both photographer and assistant are genderfluid. If precautions need to be taken to be sure that the client is not harmed or uncomfortable, we are both more than happy to work out options for privacy.

I can’t afford the upfront cost – are you willing to work with me?

Alejandro is happy to work out payment plans for photos meant for personal use as well as commercial use for small businesses. Although the retainer fee is applicable to all clients, as someone that is disabled Alejandro understands having to prioritize certain things above others.

Can I use my photos for my small business? Does Alejandro do commercial work at all?

Alejandro is open to working with large and small businesses. For folks that have hired Alejandro for personal work, usage rights can be discussed for an additional fee if the client ever decides they want to use their photos for profit.  At this point in time, Alejandro is equipped to handle small product and ‘candid’ shoots.
