A brief history of artist and concept :

Oxblood Junction's logo

Oxblood Junction was created in March of 2022 and started as a Facebook page – a tentative attempt to reclaim the artist’s urge to create and share art. That initial step developed into what the reader sees before them now: an artist that is now out of the closet and using art to express the ways in which their gender, sexuality, and disabilities intersect.

So, to start off simply – their name is Alejandro Wilson ( he / they / it ) and they are a trans masc twenty-nine year old that was born in Florida and heavily influenced by their family’s blue-collar, Irish-American heritage. They have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and a myriad of other chronic conditions. Alejandro’s personal work often touches on things they relate with: body horror, liminalism, and the horror of the unknown.

Alejandro’s Approach

For Clients…

Whether the client wants a portraiture session, art commission, or any of their writing services, Alejandro values an honest and personal approach when interacting with clients. They are open to a wide range of styles and are more than happy to take their time getting to know what styles would best suit their client’s needs. Initial consultations are always free and can be through email, text, phone call, or in person at a public venue.

As someone that is disabled and LGBTQ+ themselves, Alejandro is open to accommodating concerns regarding accessibility and client safety when it comes to shooting locations and more. Need discretion? That’s not a problem either – Alejandro is understanding and supportive of alternative lifestyles. Beyond that, Alejandro is open to creating custom packages for clients that need more than the usual portrait shoot and are also open to sliding scale fees on a case by case basis.

For Personal Work…

Personal work for Alejandro is explorative of their own identity and thus oftentimes touches on topics such as: exploration of gender and sexuality, living with a chronic and incurable illness, kink as a way of life and coping mechanism, the deconstruction of colonialist / puritanical beliefs, and more. Needless to say, they understand that these concepts may be inherently triggering to some and will offer trigger / content warnings at the beginning of projects to keep others safe where they believe it to be necessary. Alejandro’s personal works embrace the chaos of navigating the world with a blatantly queer and disabled body by using harsh contrast, distorted angles, and use of multiple mediums.
